Book your free Green and garden waste collection

Book your free Green and garden waste collection

Your free green and garden waste collections are here again and will be available until September 2024. Green and garden waste can be recycled into compost. No garden waste should be put in the rubbish bins.

Before you apply please make sure:
● It is a type of green waste that we can collect – which includes leaves, pruned branches, wood shavings and more.
● Prepare your green waste for collection in black bags so you know how many bags you want us to collect.

We aim to collect within five working days of your request.

Easter Half Term Holiday Activities

Easter Half Term holiday activities for children and young people

Explore exciting activities for children and young people (4-16 years old, up to 18 for those with special educational needs) in
Newham during the Easter school holidays.  Activities range from multi-sports to arts and crafts, drama, and cookery, catering to diverse ages, abilities, and interests. All holiday clubs are inclusive for children with low levels of SEN and/or disability, fostering participation in universal settings. Specialised programs are available for those needing additional support,
with clubs assessing suitability on a case-by-case basis.

To secure a spot, view the list of HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) clubs, follow registration instructions, and contact providers directly for programme details.

Spaces are limited, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free lung health checks

If you are aged between 55 and 74, and have ever smoked, you may soon receive an invite for a free lung health check. This will find out how well your lungs are working and aims to rule out any serious conditions. Often, early problems with the lungs do not cause any symptoms, so it is important to attend, even if you are fit and healthy.  The action is part of the national NHS Targeted
Lung Health Check Programme.
