On EWPS Eco Guardians joined 'Curious By Nature' a local environmental charity for a Litter Pick  in Beckton District Park South to kickstart the Eco Schools programme at EWPS.

We worked really hard and collected five bags of rubbish from the woodland adjoining our school! A lot of the waste was plastic which will not now end up in our rivers, seas and oceans. Well done to the Eco Guardians! Thank you also to all the parents who joined us and helped.

Members of the Junior Governing Body had a chance to participate in the menu development program. This was through a taste session which was delivered by the Juniper (who are our caterers). Their development team asked our JGB members for their feedback on a number of potential dishes for the new menus.

Children in Year 5 and 6 were fortunate enough to complete a Bikeability Level 1 and 2 with Cycle Confident. All children were taught how to ride safely on the road, turn signals and general bike safety. Well done to everyone who participated.

Year 6 Visit to Tate and Lyle

We went to the Tate and Lyle to take part in a Citizenship course. We learned how to travel on TFL, what is recycled in Newham, what to do in a fire, respecting wildlife and stranger danger. As a part of the session, we were also rewarded for working together collaboratively.

Year 2 visit to the Science Museum

Year 2 visited the Science Museum to learn more about the history of flight which linked to our Big Question unit, 'Who was the most important pilot?'

We explored a variety of hanging aircraft's, pilot uniforms and objects that were/are used in aviation. We were able to explore many achievements in aviation from many countries around the world and further our knowledge on specific pilots (The Wright Brothers, Bessie Coleman and Amelia Earhart). It was fantastic to see the knowledge Year 2 had already acquired being shown when they were able to identify the names of aircraft's they have studies before even reading the information plaque. Further information we had learnt on the day of our trip supported our learning when we returned to school and were writing facts on a variety of pilots and the aircraft they had flown.
